Description: This 31B monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD208, which is also known as dendritic cell lysosome-associated membrane glycoprotein (DC-LAMP). CD208 is expressed almost exclusively by mature dendritic cells. Expression of this molecule can be induced in monocytes by stimulation with GM-CSF and IL-4. Moreover, CD208 can be upregulated in CD34+-derived dendritic cells by GM-CSF, SCF, and TNFa. CD208 is also expressed in dendritic cells of non-lymphoid tissues such as skin. While CD208 can be detected on the cell surface, this protein is mainly localized within lysosomes. CD208 plays a key role in the processing and presentation of antigen during the immune response.
The 31B antibody only recognizes intracellular CD208, not the cell surface-expressed protein.
