Description: The polyclonal antibody reacts with human, mouse, and rat caspase-12. The antibody was raised against residues 100-116 of mouse Caspase-12 and reacts with human, mouse and rat Caspase-12. Caspase-12 is ubiquitously expressed in tissues and localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and activated by ER stress resulting in apoptosis. Similar to other members of the Caspase family, Caspase-12 requires cleavage of the prodomain to activate its proapoptotic form. ER stress, including disruption of ER calcium homeostasis and accumulation of excess proteins in ER, but not by membrane- or mitochondrial-targeted apoptotic signals, is responsible for Caspase-12 activation.
