Description: This purified polyclonal antibody reacts with Interferon (IFN)-Regulatory Factor 8 (IRF8), also known as Interferon Consensus Sequence Binding Protein (ICSBP). IRF8 is a 426 amino acid transcription factor in the IRF family that is induced by IFNγ and affects the expression of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-12 and Type I IFN. IRF8 contributes to innate and adaptive immune responses and can be found in activated macrophages, dendritic cells, and B cells. IRF8 activates the transcription of IFN-inducible genes by interacting with the IFN-Stimulated Response Element (ISRE). It can also repress transcription through TEL (an Ets family member) interaction-mediated histone deactylase HDAC3 recruitment, leading to decreased transcription at the ISRE. Upon IFN gamma and TLR stimulation, it is also found to interact with autoantigen Ro52 which is involved in autoimmune diseases such as Sjogren’s syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus.
