0300-0178 recognises the basic form of complement factor 4 (C4), part of the classical complement activation pathway. C4 is expressed as a single chain precursor. This is post-tranlationally modified to form a disulphide linked trimer of alpha, beta and gamma chains with an intra-chain thioester bond in the alpha chain, prior to secretion.
