4-Methylumbelliferone sodium salt is a selective inhibitor of Hyaluronan (HA) synthesis. HA is a major component in the metastasis of malignant tumors.

Applications

It was used as a substrate to determine the idursulfase activity by a two-step fluorometric assay.

Biochem/physiol Actions

4-Methylumbelliferone Sodium Salt can suppress the expression of HA-synthase. It is also functions as an inhibitor via the depletion of UDP-glucuronic acid, the common substrate for HA synthesis.
